First lesson-Get a Grip Task 1

This activity is basically on how we humans use our hands and how it differs from how gorillas use their limbs.


So, task 1: Make a list of the different ways of holding different objects with one hand.


  1. Cylindrical objects/ Fat objects: Hold with 4 fingers on one side of the object with the thumb on the other side.
  2. A Zip: Use your index finger and thumb to grip the zip's end and slide it across.
  3. Small/Thin/Long Object: 4 fingers curled around the object, thumb curled in contact with other fingers.
  4. palm and 4 fingers curl around the object
  5. Thin object like paper: Index and middle finger (pinching) / Middle finger and 4th finger (pinching)
  6. Sides of 2 palms touching each other (scooping)
